A number of research projects and other educational activities are underway at The Visible College, with more to come. For now, here is a snapshot of some of our initiatives (more detail to come soon):

Ontological shock

Everyone who has made the transition from thinking a controversial subject that challenges conventional worldviews is not worth taking seriously to thinking it is worth taking seriously has experienced, first-hand, a destabilization of their own worldview.

This experience is so common that it has been given the name “ontological shock.”

We have convened a team of researchers in the fields of anthropology, medicine, and psychology, among others, to study these effects and share findings in various formats that we hope will benefit researchers, mental health professionals, policymakers, and others interested in the subject.

Roadmap for scholars new to the UAP subject

It can be overwhelming to approach this topic for the first time. The quality of work is sometimes excellent and sometimes not, and it is not always sufficient or helpful to rely purely on an author’s credentials.

Our team is working to compile some of the most reliable and accessible resources, with accompanying narrative and annotations to contextualize their relevance to the field overall.

Teach-ins

As part of our educational mission, we are collaborating with the New Paradigm Institute to support a series of events in academic contexts. The goal of these events will be to raise awareness about the significance of the UAP subject, and to advocate for academic engagement.
